Pathophysiology Symptoms
18 May 2012 - What is pathophysiology? This is studying how the mechanical, physical and biochemical have changed due to some disease or some unusual syndrome. If you are in the medical field, then you have to have this area of study. There are not just any one set of symptoms that can tell you what to look for. Depending on what the disease is, the symptoms ususlly go along with them. You can have pathophysiology in just about any thing that can or cannot be diagnosed. The main thing to look for are subtle changes in the skin and changes in the why your body reacts to certain things. Some things to look for in the case of have Parkinson's Disease (PD) include certain sleep disorders. Some of these are Insomnia, Sleep apnea, rapid-eye movment disorder, vivid dreams, daytime somnolence, restless legs and periodic limb movements, as well as sleep disordered breathing nad sudden onset sleep. Some other things that have to do with the pathophysiology are the different ICDs. These ICDs are more common in the individuals who carry the trait of PD. Pathophysiology Of Asthma
18 May 2012 - Asthma is a lung condition that causes the airways to become constricted. It usually presents itself in childhood, but it some cases it may develop in adults. Some individuals may suffer from mild asthma, that has little or no effect on a person's daily life. Other people may have asthma symptoms that are severe and life-threatening. Wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath are the most common symptoms that are associated with asthma.
The type of treatment that is prescribed by physicians for this condition depends on the severity of it. Health care experts also need to have a complete understanding of the pathophysiology of asthma in order to prescribe the appropriate treatment. Understanding the pathophysiology of asthma involves comprehending the following: allergies, inflammation, triggers, immune system, and bronchoconstriction.
As a person's asthma symptoms begin to worsen, there are three changes that take place in the lung's. Those changes are: increased mucus production, inflammation and swelling, and muscle tightening. These events usually happen in order. When a p... read more
Pathophysiology Of Pneumonia

Pneumonia is a serious disease and for the elderly, children, or those who already have weak immune systems; it is even more serious. There are many factors that can work together to cause pneumonia. There are many bacterial, viral, and fungal agents that can can this condition. Other factors that can contribute to the development of pneumonia, but are less common include lung injuries and flea bites.
The pathophysiology of pneumonia is quite complicated; in order to understand the pathophysiology of this condition, one has to understand what can cause it. Pneumonia develops when foreign matter such as viruses, bacteria, parasite... continue
Pathophysiology Of Dementia
17 April 2012 - Dementia is a brain disorder in which a person suffers severe memory loss as well as cognitive abilities, such as being able to rationalize and make sound, balanced decisions. Similar to Alzheimer's Disease, Dementia can either be progressive, or slowly developing over a period of time, or it can remain stable, such as following an accident such as a head injury or suffering from the results of a stroke.
The pathophysiology of dementia involves the study of the brain disease itself. There have been numerous studies made on the subject over a period of many years.
For instance, physicians have concluded that there are basically two broad categories of dementia; one, that there are primary dementia, in which the condition itself is a sign of an organic brain disease, and two, that there are secondary dementias, in which the condition may be the results of different factors, such as a head injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, even AIDS.
Another kind of dementia is actually not the condition itself, but only mimics, or seems to resemble it is known as pseudodementia. This is the ... continue
Pathophysiology Of Infection
7 April 2012 - There are two different types of infections, however they involve the same pathophysiology. An infection can be viral or bacterial. A viral infection involves the whole body. All the body systems are affected. An individual may be experiencing a runny nose and a fever. A bacterial infection affects only one part of the body. If a person got a cut and it became infected, they might be experiencing pain, swelling and fever.
The pathophysiology of infection is the same. Either a viral or bacterial infection begins in the body. The immune system is alerted that an invader has entered the body. Cytokines are the messengers that alert the body to fight the infection. Cytokines send a message to phagocytes which are the white blood cells that attack the infection. Lymphocytes are another immune system defender that help to attack the infection. Depending on the type of infection, there are other defenders the immune systems calls up to join the fight. The result of all this activity often results in a fever. Having a fever means your body is in the process of fighting off an infection. T... read
